The House Veiled In Brick

Architect:

RENY LIJO

Project Description:

The ‘House Veiled in Bricks’ addresses the dual needs of privacy and openness, and shade and views. A veil of bricks provides protection while allowing natural light to permeate, creating a harmonious blend of serenity and openness. This design showcases exposed brickwork and concrete, with an open sit-out flanked by a car park and a court screened by bricks, setting a unique spatial experience. Entry leads to an open-to-sky courtyard with a brick veil on the west face filtering sunlight, while Tostem sliding windows connect this courtyard with the formal and family living areas. The house features sustainable approach by strategically placed courtyards, enhancing cross ventilation and creating a micro-climate aligning with environmentally conscious living. Minimalist interiors use natural materials, with Tostem windows maintaining a connection to nature. This house is a thoughtful retreat, transforming site constraints into opportunities for a private yet open, protective yet breathable living space.
